The most important monuments of Šumperk include the European Meeting House, the so-called Geschader House, where the stories and personal tragedies of specific Šumperk victims took place during the infamous witch trials. In the cellars of this listed building, there is an exhibition called The Witch Trials, where you can find out most of the information and interesting facts about witchcraft and the Church Inquisition in Jeseníky in the second half of the 17th century.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
If you go to the permanent exhibition of the witch trials on foot from the hotel, the route takes you along the Main Street, which is lined with 19th-century buildings by famous Viennese architects. Your first stop may be the Museum of Local History in Šumperk, located in the park directly in front of the hotel. Then head towards Main Street and continue along the pedestrian zone. The building of the Šumperk Theatre is also worth noticing. The exhibition itself is located in the ancient cellar of a listed house, i.e. Geschader House.
